Thursday night, Three Days Grace came to Grand Rapids to rock the Orbit Room with Framing Hanley!  WGRD was there to...well, to rock and have a few drinks, to be honest...and to capture the night for those who couldn't make it! The guys in Three Days Grace and WGRD hosted a fun sound check party for everyone who won tickets to the show on the air with GRD before the show, and they band even brought pizza!  What could be more awesome than getting exclusive access to watch the band prepare for their show, and hang out with them and get autographs and pictures?  Free pizza, too!

Nothing More is a great band from Texas (my home state), and they came through town on Monday as one of the openers for the Chevelle show at The Orbit Room.  They also stopped by the station to meet some winners and play a couple songs for us in their special "acoustic" format. These guys do their acoustic thing a bit different from most.

Middle Class Rut was the second band to play during the Chevelle concert on Monday night, with Nothing More opening the show.   These two dudes jumped on stage and rocked with a lot of energy, with a huge sound for two guys being the only ones up there. They had some backing tracks going to fill things out, but they weren't playing too loud.

I got the privilege of talking with Sam, the drummer for Chevelle a couple of weeks ago, and we talked about the new album "La Gargola" that was released on April 1st, and their upcoming tour. Early in the interview we learned what Pete means when he said he "got Sam and electric drum kit".

A couple years ago, I caught Chevelle on the Carnival of Madness tour with Halestorm, and they kicked serious ass!   I'd seen them before, but this time they really brought it to the crowd and played with a lot of energy. The giant bull on stage was an impressive touch, too.

Rejoice metal heads! The ultimate in old school heavy metal will be gracing us with the presence in April. The day after the big Mastodon/Opeth show on April 14th, Cannibal Corpse will 'unleash hell' on April 15!
