Stone Sour‘s covers EP Meanwhile in Burbank... came out exclusively on vinyl on Record Store Day.

The five-song EP featuring covers of Black Sabbath, Metallica, Kiss, Judas Priest, and Alice in Chains songs will be released digitally via iTunes on April 28.

Recorded live at Room 237 in Burbank, CA,  here's the track listing for Meanwhile In Burbank

1. We Die Young (Alice in Chains cover)
2. Heading Out To The Highway (Judas Priest cover)
3. Love Gun (KISS cover)
4. Creeping Death (Metallica cover)
5. Children Of The Grave (Black Sabbath cover)

Guitarist Josh Rand says in a statement on Stone Sour’s website,

“Back in February of 2014 while Stone Sour was touring, Corey [Taylor] approached me about Stone Sour doing a cover of the Metal Church song ”The Dark” for the movie Fear Clinic. I thought it would be cool not only to record ”The Dark”, but the five cover songs that we had played on that tour.”

Recently Stone Sour announced they're not stopping at just one EP of covers-- they have two more on the way, according to Loudwire.

The second covers collection will be called Straight Outta Burbank and the third one will be called No Sleep ‘Til Burbank. Each EP will contain five songs.

On the Jasta Show podcast with Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed, Taylor shared,

“We just want to share some of these songs that we grew up loving and we just want to pay homage to the bands that got us into music in the first place. … The next album, just to give you a little hint, has got everything from Bad Brains to Motley Crue and the third one is going to probably have Violent Femmes to Rage Against the Machine.”

In an interview with Johnnie Walker and Metalhead Ned on WGRD, Taylor said that picking the covers they take into account the bands who've inspired Stone Sour and they really try to have fun with it.

"It feels good to know we did these songs justice. I'm looking forward to seeing the reaction of people when we put the second one out there."

He revealed that third EP will also have a cover of Van Halen's Unchained,

"The one song that I've always wanted to cover was Unchained by Van Halen and that's going to be on the third one we put out... that's one of my all time favorite songs... It's got such a great vibe to it. And I love that band so much."
