Corey Taylor has said that since Slipknot will be taking a break after their current tour, it's likely that his other band Stone Sour will be putting out an album soon.

While we waiting for a full length LP from Stone Sour, we've got their covers EPs to tide us over.

Blabbermouth reports that Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale will perform on their next EP, Straight Outta Burbank

Hale is guest singing on Stone Sour's version of Rolling Stone's "Gimme Shelter".

Straight Outta Burbank, the band's second covers EP, is tentatively due out before the year's end. According to Blabbermouth, Taylor recently revealed the band's they'll be covering on Straight Outta Burbank:

  • Bad Brains
  • The Rolling Stones
  • Slayer
  • Mötley Crüe
  • Iron Maiden
For the third installment, No Sleep Till Burbank, Taylor said Stone Sour will release versions of songs from these artists:
  • Van Halen
  • Violent Femmes
  • Buzzcocks
  • Rage Against the Machine
  • AC/DC

Taylor talked about the covers EPS on the Jasta Show podcast with Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed:

“We just want to share some of these songs that we grew up loving and we just want to pay homage to the bands that got us into music in the first place. … The next album, just to give you a little hint, has got everything from Bad Brains to Motley Crue and the third one is going to probably have Violent Femmes to Rage Against the Machine.”

In an interview with Johnnie Walker and Metalhead Ned on WGRD, Taylor said that picking the covers they take into account the bands who’ve inspired Stone Sour and they really try to have fun with it.

“It feels good to know we did these songs justice. I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction of people when we put the second one out there.”

He revealed that third EP will also have a cover of Van Halen’s Unchained,

“The one song that I’ve always wanted to cover was Unchained by Van Halen and that’s going to be on the third one we put out… that’s one of my all time favorite songs… It’s got such a great vibe to it. And I love that band so much.”
