As Michiganders we should all be quite familiar with the tool that removes snow from our vehicles...

But apparently that is not the case, as one West Michigan Police Department has taken to social media to remind folks what a snow brush is.

👇BELOW: DISCOVER GRAND RAPIDS' BEST SNOW HILLS👇

It's definitely been a wintry weather week in West Michigan. It's been bitterly cold and we've gotten dumped on with snow multiple days in a row. I get that brushing your car off is a chore... but what's the alternative??

That's exactly the point the Walker Police Department made on Facebook, reminding folks to brush off their darn cars!

This here, is a snow brush. As you live in MI, and are knowledgeable regarding winter weather, you SHOULD be familiar with this tool. In an effort to remind those who occasionally forget what it is for, it is used to clear snow from your vehicle's lights, license plate, windshield, windows, roof, hood, and any other place where snow could impair your vision or fly off as you drive, which effects other motorists. This should be done BEFORE you start driving. These brushes come in a variety of shapes, sizes, & colors. Find one that fits your personality best. And then use it...before you go...when it snows. - Walker PD

My favorite part is "Find one that fits your personality best."

Lots of people got a kick out of Walker PD's post, chiming in with their own snarky comments, observations, reminders, and tips,

Kyle writes,

It's really neat because it works on both front and back windows.

Oh, the black plasticy end isn’t used to scrape eyes on your windshield and a face hole on your door windows?

Kendra says,

Next up you should introduce a shovel. Way too many people NEVER shovel sidewalks.

Many are wondering isn't it actually illegal to not brush off your car? It is!

Michigan law requires you to clear off your vehicle:

A person shall not deposit, or cause to be deposited, snow, ice or slush on any roadway or highway... A person who violates this section is responsible for a civil infraction and shall be ordered to pay a civil fine of not more than $100.00. - MCL - Section 257.677a - Michigan Legislature
