Sales Pending: Who is Buying The BOB and GLC at 20 Monroe Live Downtown Grand Rapids?
Two of downtown Grand Rapids' most popular entertainment destinations could have new ownership soon. Sales are pending at The B.O.B. and GLC Live at 20 Monroe, according to Wood TV 8.
The restaurant/bar/venue The B.O.B. and the concert venue next door, GLC Live at 20 Monroe (formerly 20 Monroe Live),were first put on the market in Nov. 2020. The Gilmore Collection listed The B.O.B. for $15.5 million and 20 Monroe Live for $16.5 million, or a combined price of $31 million.
Well, at this point it sounds like the properties are not being sold together.
Wood TV 8 reports Pure Real Estate's Ray Kisor, the listing agent for The B.O.B. and GLC Live, says sales are pending for both with two separate buyers. According to Kisor, both deals are expected to close in early 2022. He did not identify the buyers or their plans for the buildings.
The B.O.B. (an acronym for Big Old Building) was constructed in 1903 as Judson's grocery warehouse. It now houses B.O.B's Brewery, H.O.M.E.(House of Music & Entertainment), Gilly's Smokehouse, Judson's Steak House, Bobarino's Pizzeria, Dr. Grins Comedy Club, Eve Nightclub, and an outdoor Beer Garden.
20 Monroe Live opened downtown GR February 1, 2017. I remember the first sold old show there: Shinedown and Wayland rocked GR on February 4, 2017. Not long after that, Pop Evil came home to play the new venue. In the years since we've seen tons of great shows come through.
Upcoming shows include:
- Trey Kennedy: Are You For Real? Tour Dec. 15
- Billy Strings Dec. 30, 31, Jan. 1
- Walker Hayes: The Fancy Like Tour Jan. 27
- Whitney Cummings: Touch Me Tour March 5
- Matt Kearney: The January Flower Tour March 7
- Kaleo: Fight or Flight Tour April 28
- Weird Al Yankovic Aug. 25
Hopefully, the two Grand Rapids' hot spots remain similar to what they are now... As Doug Small, president and CEO of Experience Grand Rapids told Wood TV 8,
I’m wishful thinking — it’s not my money to throw around — but if we could keep it like it is now, or similar to what it is now, I think it will be successful.
Who do you think could be purchasing the properties?
