A Look Back at 741 Leonard St NW

Iron Well Bar, formerly Kuzzins Lounge, is now on the market. Back in 2017, the West Side joint shut down after the previous owners faced legal and financial troubles tied to a federal investigation.

Third Coast Development bought the building at 741 Leonard St NW shortly after and briefly ran it as Local 741. Then in 2019, Jason Matthews took over the space, turning it into the neighborhood country and rock bar we know today as Iron Well.

Grand Rapids' Iron Well Bar On Market for $1.99M

Iron Well is up for sale for $1,999,000.

According to the listing, it's a great opportunity to own an "iconic bar on the highly desirable west side of Grand Rapids."

Downstairs holds the main bar and restaurant setup, along with a large stage, dance space, and pool tables. The current setup features updated coolers, new beer taps, a replaced bar top, and a liquor license attached to the sale. Upstairs, there are two apartments that could be rented out to bring in extra cash.

The listing also mentions the current owner is ready to move on and open to looking at all offers.

According to Wood TV 8, there was still no buyer in place as of Tuesday this week, though Iron Well is staying open for business for now.

Another West Side Bar for Sale

Iron Well isn't the only bar for sale on the West Side. Tip Top Deluxe on Butterworth Street was listed earlier this year and remains on the market.
