Is Farah’s Bar Being Revived on Grand Rapids’ West Side?
A new bar opening in Grand Rapids is always cause for celebration, but it is especially exciting when it breathes life into a space that has been sitting dark for years.

Farah's Pub to Open Up on Bridge Street
New signs are going up and extensive renovations are underway at 511 Bridge St. NW. The neighborhood is finally getting a look at what is replacing the former Kale’s Korner Bar, which has been vacant since shutting down in 2020.

But beyond the excitement of a fresh West Side hangout, it’s the name on the front of the building that has local history buffs and longtime residents talking: Farah’s.
According to Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. the new Farah's Pub is expected to open within the coming months.
Farah's Bar on Michigan Street
For anyone who spent their weekends on Michigan Street back in the day, that name hits a major nostalgia nerve. A good Friday night used to mean hitting the Michigan Street strip, doing the ultimate dive bar crawl through Duke's, Bob's, Birch Lodge, and, of course, the original Farah’s.

Farah's was located at 710 Michigan St. NE before shutting down in 2018 amid legal and financial troubles. The bar made a brief comeback in early 2020, but closed its doors for good in 2021 when the building was sold and transformed into what is now the Glass House Bar.

Seeing that exact name resurface on Bridge Street naturally is raising big questions around town: Is this just a developer borrowing a classic Grand Rapids nameplate for a dose of nostalgia, or is the original bar actually being revived by the same family?
Public records do show a connection.
Who is Behind the New Farah's Pub?
According to city development filings reported by MLive and Crain's Grand Rapids Business, the property is being brought back to life by an entity called Ramon 1088 LLC, registered under the name Dawn Helou.
The link lies in family records. According to the obituary for Michael A. Farah, the longtime patriarch and original owner of the classic Grand Rapids bars, including Farah’s and Kuzzin's, Dawn Helou is his daughter.
The new team though, appears to be keeping a low profile, as I'm not able to find an official website or social media pages for the new Farah's Pub.
Stay tuned, because it does seem like a piece of Grand Rapids nightlife is making a comeback.
