These are not the best of times for Geoff Rickly. The No Devotion musician recently revealed that his Collect Records label venture might be in trouble after distancing itself from financial backer Martin Shkreli, who is currently taking heat over his role in raising the cost of HIV medication by a stunning amount. Now comes word that Rickly was "poisoned and robbed" just outside the venue where his band recently played.

The vocalist revealed in an Instagram post that the incident occurred just outside the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and that he spent the night in the hospital as a result of the action. As a result, the band had to cancel their appearance, but Rickly apparently recovered from the incident in a timely fashion as he and the band were expected to be in Paris over the weekend. His Instagram post on the incident can be read below:

As for his record label woes, Rickly told the New York Times, "Never in a million years did any of us expect to wake up to the news of the scandal that he is now involved in. It blindsided and upset us on every level.” Speaking about his dealings with Shkreli, he added, "I had apprehensions and I talked to him about it. He has a cavalier attitude about things. At the time, one on one, it was soothing, but in public now it comes across as borderline sociopathic. You take any capitalist money and you never know. It’s a dirty system and usually people do something questionable things … At the very worst, if Martin was a bad guy, then you’re taking his terrible money and giving it to artists who never get any. I wanted to make something great out of it — the stupid Robin Hood narrative that everybody knows.”

While speaking with BBC Radio 1 Rock Show host Daniel P. Carter recently, Rickly added, "I always think I handled myself with a lot of dignity...maybe that will save the label or maybe it won't."

Even with the bumps in the road, Rickly and his band No Devotion, which features former members of Lostprophets, continue to tour. The band is wrapping up a U.K. run, with North American shows expected to start next month. Dates can be found here.
