According to a post from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, a man from Pontiac is currently in jail after allegedly being found in possession of child sexual abuse images.

Authorities say 42-year-old Mathew Brockway Kliewer contacted police requesting a welfare check on his mother, who was reportedly experiencing breathing difficulties and intermittently losing consciousness. She was transported to a hospital, where she later died. Officials have stated that the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.

While deputies were inside the home, they observed apparent child sexual abuse material in plain sight. This prompted them to obtain a search warrant, which led to the discovery of additional illegal images and other related evidence.

Authorities later reported that thousands of images were recovered from multiple electronic devices in the home, including a cell phone, computers, and gaming systems.

Kliewer was charged with possession of sexually abusive material and aggravated possession. His bond was set at $75,000, and if convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and/or a $50,000 fine.
