Prison Guard Charged in Alleged Inmate Attack Plot

A former prison guard at Michigan’s Baraga Correctional Facility has been accused of assisting a prisoner in an attack on a fellow correctional officer.

Guard Faces Charges in Alleged Prison Attack Setup

WOOD TV8 reported that 44-year-old former Michigan corrections officer Shelby Pennock has been formally charged in connection with the assault of a prison employee. Pennock, who worked as a corrections officer at the Baraga Correctional Facility in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, allegedly left a prisoner’s cell door open, which authorities say led to a serious attack on another prison guard.

Authorities said the prisoner attacked the corrections officer, placing the officer in a headlock and repeatedly punching him in the head. Pennock was also injured when the prisoner allegedly attacked her before staff regained control.
