In Memoriam: Pop-Tarts Throughout the Years

My grandparent's house was always my favorite place to go when we were growing up, not just because we loved them and being there, but because we always knew that whenever we would show up there would always be a box of Pop-Tarts waiting for us. It instilled a love for these silly little pastries that has carried on to this day (I keep a box in my car at all times).

So it saddens me to report that Bill Post, the creator of Pop-Tarts and a Grand Rapids Native, passed away this week at age 96. According to his obituary, throughout his many accomplishments, "Bill remained a humble man of God with a servant’s heart that seemed to overflow with generosity. " All around, you only hear good things about Bill.

Brief Summary

Pop-Tarts have been a staple product in Kellogg's arsenal since 1963. Bill was approached to make a breakfast food that could be cooked in the toaster. 4 short months later. Bill and his team whom, he always credits by saying,

I assembled an amazing team that developed Kellogg's concept...that we could bring to market in the span of just four months”

Again, the guy had every opportunity to claim the invention of Pop-Tarts of his own but was intentional about getting the people the recognition they deserved.

So in honor of Bill, let's take a walk down memory lane and take a look at Poptarts throughout the ages from 1963 to now.
