Awesome New Cafe-By-Day, Bar-By-Night Restaurant Opening In Grand Rapids

Many Americans rely on two different drinks traditionally drunk at opposite times of the day: coffee in the morning and a cold beer at night. Both of these beverages generally operate separately and can be a handful for most business owners, but a new shop in Grand Rapids is looking to bring these two staples into one establishment.

The Hoxie is an ambitious new two-in-one restaurant that was recently approved by the City and could be opening its doors in Creston very soon. Here are the details.

The Hoxie Cafe & Bar

At a recent Grand Rapids City Planning Commission meeting, Hoxie House owner Angela Tramper sought approval to get her cafe by day and bar by night in the Creston Neighborhood, across the street from Creston Market.

According to the business proposal, Hoxie House would run as a cafe serving espresso-based beverages, hot teas, and "seasonal breakfast & lunch items" from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., then switch to a bar and restaurant from 3 p.m. to midnight. The bar & restaurant would serve dinner and have a full bar. The bar is projected for a fall launch.

Having one building pull double-duty as a morning and evening destination will be a welcome addition to the Creston neighborhood, which has seen popular spots like Creston Brewing, River North Public House, Gaia House Cafe, and Fat Boy Burgers all closing in the last few years.

An opening date has yet to be announced, but it shouldn't be too long for the cafe portion to open. Keep your eyes on WGRD for more updates.
