Beat the Heat and Save Big at John Ball Zoo with Their New Summer Discount
I'm a little behind on my summer bucket list this year, and high on that list is getting over to John Ball Zoo. If you’ve been dragging your feet on making a visit too, the zoo just gave us a pretty great reason to finally get moving!

Top of my agenda is seeing the brand-new otter habitat I wrote about recently. But if playful otters aren't enough motivation, John Ball Zoo just revealed a sweet new discount tied directly to the West Michigan heat index.

How the 'Otter Beat the Heat' Discount Works
It’s called the Otter Beat the Heat promotion. Whenever the National Weather Service forecasts a high of 88 degrees or warmer for Grand Rapids, John Ball Zoo is knocking 20% off daytime admission!

Cool Ways to Beat the Heat at the Zoo
Now, you might think heading to the zoo on a hot day seems counterintuitive—until you remember how much shade and air-conditioned space they have spread out through the park.
Plus, they've got those refreshing misting stations set up, cold ice cream and drinks, and plenty of tropical animals that are living their absolute best lives in the heat!

Important Details for Claiming Your Discount
The deal runs now through October 2, 2026. It's important to note that the discount is not available online.

It’s strictly an in-person deal at the admissions gate on qualifying 88+ degree days, so it's smart to double-check the local forecast and John Ball Zoo's website before you head out.
I'll see you by the new otter habitat!
