It’s ‘Christmas In July’ At These Locations Around Grand Rapids

It's an event that bodes well for people who keep their Christmas, or is something that makes people roll their eyes endlessly. Personally, it's always confused me: if this was meant to be a halfway-through-the-year celebration, why is it in July? Anyway, I love a gimmick, which means I'm a fan of celebrating a holiday at the entirely wrong time of year.

Which brings us to this weekend, when a couple different places around Grand Rapids will be hosting celebrations of their own, including Studio Park and the Downtown Market. Tis the season to celebrate the wrong season.

The Downtown Market's 'Christmas In July'

On Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th, the Downtown Market is hosting its fourth annual Christkindl Markt Christmas in July celebration, including the return of the Markt Bar for one day only.  Both days will include a sneak peek of the special cups and glassware available for purchase later in December, and various vendors will offer holiday-themed snacks.

On Saturday only from 12 to 5 p.m., you can drink its signature Red Glühwein and German Kinderpunsch drinks, as well as a Shandy Claus.

Studio Park's Christmas in July Art Market

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Studio Park's Art Marketplace will have over 80 art vendors selling holiday creations (or quality items that could serve as early gifts). There will also be a live DJ and drinks available for purchase.

Bricks & Minifigs: Meet Santa & Mrs. Claus - July 25th and 26th

On July 25th, Bricks and Minifigs at 2919 Breton Rd. SE is getting visited by Mr. and Mrs. Claus themselves. They'll be there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All weekend, B&M will offer discounts, holiday merch and decorations, and is giving away one of three Christmas Shopping Sprees.

West Michigan Whitecaps 'Christmas in July' Game

On Friday, July 31st, the LMCU Ballpark will get in on the holiday action with a Christmas in July game. If you purchase your ticket at the ballpark and bring a puzzle or a game, you can receive $2 off your ticket and help with a Christmas gift. The first 1,000 guests who enter will also receive a "special prize." For Crash's sake, let's hope he's been a good river rascal.
