It's always a sad ceremony when someone passes away, and it's extra emotional when a service animal goes. K9 Officers put in a lot of work to learn to serve our community, and today, Vento, a fallen K9 was honored with "Last Call".

Last Call is a ceremony honoring the service of officers who pass away, where dispatch makes one final call for the fallen officer, relieving them of all their duties.

Vento was born January 23, 2004, and laid to rest June 23, 2017, and served the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, and his handler for the last eight years, Deputy Jason Stasienko and the department paid their respects to Vento today.

Thank you for your service, Officer Vento.

It's okay to admit that there's not something in your eye. Let it out.
