I think my body may still be recovering from this long weekend of running!

Sunday was the second annual Gazelle Girl Half Marathon & 5K in Grand Rapids. It is an all-female event sponsored by Nike to bring awareness and support of Title IX, a 1972 federal law protecting people from discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities, including athletics.

I am a huge fan of women's athletics and fitness, having been a college athlete during my time at Ferris State University.

What looked like an awful day ended up being the perfect weather for a race.

The lightning subsided long enough for everyone to finish their race in relative peace. I even placed in the top 10!

I have one photo I'll share because, unlike many other runners I have seen, I run ugly! Seriously, I am the least photogenic runner I have ever seen in my entire life. In most pictures, it looks like I am running 20 minutes a mile as opposed to the sub seven-minute miles I was racing at!
