It is Memorial Day Weekend -- the unofficial kick-off of summer for most people. There are several activities planned for the holiday weekend -- carnivals, food trucks, baseball, amusement parks, a flea market, and of course several Memorial Day events for Monday including parades, runs, and a train ride.

This is a week-long family fun festival and Midway Carnival held in Fruitport. Some of the events scheduled include an Ox Roast, the Whispering Pines Animal Kingdom and Petting Zoo, Pixie’s Pony Rides, Music, Fireworks, a 5K Race/Walk, a Motorcycle Run, a Parade, a Horseshoe Tournament, and a Car Show. It’s the 6th season of Food Truck Fridays at Riverside Park. The food trucks will be located by the Guild St. entrance to the park. There will be a variety of fan favorites along with plenty of new food trucks for everyone to try. There are many new features this year including a Frequent Fridays Card that will offer you the chance to win prizes based on how many Food Truck Fridays you attend. Buses By The Beach, is a non-profit organization that holds events to raise money for The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors. This benefit will feature Volkswagon style rustic wooded camping, live music, huge raffle and silent auction of VW related items. In addition, there will be family fun activities like tie dying, a rock climbing wall, a high ropes course, a kids talent show, a community breakfast Monday morning and more! Spend Memorial Day weekend enjoying the sandy beaches and crystal clear blue water, nature trails, and paved bike trails at Camp Blodgett. All VW's and VW lovers are welcome. No need to have a bus! It's opening weekend for Michigan's Adventure! Check out the over 60 rides, slides and attractions. They have seven roller coasters for you to ride. They also have a Camp Snoopy for the younger kids. Holland Memorial Day Parade
Parade begins Eighth Street and Central Avenue and ends at Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Jenison Memorial Day Parade
The parade travels along Baldwin Street from the corner of 20th Avenue to Cottonwood Drive.
Muskegon Memorial Day Parade and Music Ceremony
Muskegon Downtown Development Authority, 380 W. Western Ave., Muskegon, MI
The parade begins at 9 am. Immediately following the parade there will be a Musical Memorial Day Ceremony at the Frauenthal Center.
Zeeland Memorial Day Parade
9:00 am-10:00 am
The parade starts at Cityside Middle School and ends at Zeeland Cemetery at Lincoln and Church Street.
Cascade Township Memorial Day Ceremony

The parade begins at 10 am in downtown Ionia with a ceremony following on the Ionia County Courthouse lawn.

The parade begins under I-196 at Division Street and ends at Veterans Memorial Park.
Walker Memorial Day Parade

The parade route is Remembrance Road to Walker Village Drive.

Fremont Memorial Day Parade
The parade runs down Main Street from the Fire Department to Veterans Memorial Park with a service at the park starting at 6:45 pm.

Veterans of all military branches are invited to a free 90-minute vintage train ride. You will ride in rail cars similar to those used for troop trains during WW II. In fact one of our century old coaches appeared in the movie "Biloxi Blues" as part of a troop train. More information can be found here.
