These Rock Metal Acts Should Come to Grand Rapids ASAP

Photo Johnnie Walker

We get some really big name acts in Grand Rapids, and they all put on amazing shows!

We have The Eagles, Boob Lady (a.k.a. Katy Perry), Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Arch Enemy, etc., all coming to Grand Rapids!

However, there are a few bands that I wish would make an appearance here.

Iron-Maiden-15

Iron Maiden

Has Iron Maiden ever been here? I don't think they have! Well they should...

I saw Iron Maiden play at DTE Energy Music Theater a few years back with Alice Cooper opening up for them. The show was massively awesome! Bruce Dickinson running everywhere singing 'Run to the Hills' among many other classic Maiden tunes.

I really wish these guys would come to Van Andel Arena.

Slipknot

It's been awhile since these guys have hit the Grand Rapids area. Last time they were here was at the Van Andel Arena when they released 'All Hope is Gone.' This was way before Paul Grey passed away and Joey Jordison was still in the band. They booked another Knotfest and the upcoming album, maybe Slipknot will make a stop here in GR.

Foo Fighters

Man, it's been some time since these guys have even touched Michigan! Last time they were here, they played a full 2 hour set! It was one of my favorite shows I have ever seen. Dave Grohl sure knows how to play to the crowd and kick some ass. I want to feel that again Grohl! So come on over to Grand Rapids, the beer is flowing well here!

Phil-Anselmo-Featured

Down

Phil Anselmo was supposed to bring this fine band to The Orbit Room a few years back, but the tour was quickly cancelled. I bought a ticket and everything, which I never received a refund for! Reason? Never got the chance to get to the box office....my fault I suppose.

Seriously though, Down has released 2 new EP's and cancelled a date at The Orbit Room! C'mon Phil, don't bring us Down...

See what I did there?

Black-Sabbath-Ozzy-and-Tony-1

Black Sabbath

This may be a long shot, but it would be awesome if Black Sabbath played a show here in GR.

That's all I really need to say, it's effin' Sabbath man.

System-of-a-Down

System of a Down

I know quite a few people who agree with me on this one! System of a Down, a band that has been so up and down the past few years, everyone is wondering what the heck is going on with these guys. Last time they played GR, they filmed the 'Hypnotize' video and played to a pretty well sold arena. They did make a return to Michigan to DTE a couple years ago, but I missed it in favor of Dethklok/Lamb of God (which ended up getting cancelled anyway)

C'mon guys, make some new stuff! We'd love to hear it!

Rammstein

Fire, metal, german lyrics, what more could you ask for?

Not sure if these guys have ever played in Grand Rapids, but from videos I have watched, it's an intense show! Most people may not understand the lyrics, but in metal, that doesn't really matter 100%. If you want to see an example of Rammstein live, just look up a live video....s**t's awesome.

Mudvayne

This is another long shot, as these guys aren't even together at this point. However, it would be awesome to see Mudvayne again. I saw them on the Pedal to the Metal tour with Static-X, Suicide Silence, and Black Label Society in Battle Creek. Man...that was an awesome show. Chad Grey came out in a bear suit and just ripped through his vocals so hard, I think he puked.

Who knows when they'll do something new...wish list I guess.
