Metalhead Ned’s Throwback Thursday – Make 7 Up Yours!

Lately at WGRD, we have been doing our High School Athlete of the Week. This past week, the recognized individual was from Kenowa Hills, which happens to be my alma mater! It was cool to see someone from my old school collide with my career. Which brought my back to my high school days, and dug up this old picture.

Johnnie’s Throwback Thursday – Meeting Nothing More in April

This weekend is the big Volbeat/Five Finger Death Punch/Hellyeah/Nothing More show at the Deltaplex, and I'm really excited about this show!

In case you hadn't heard, the show sold out, so keep listening for a chance to win some tickets to the show, and your chance to meet the bands!  We still have a couple tickets floating around, looking for a home with you.

The opening band is the fantastic Nothing More, and we first got to meet the guys when they came to town in April.

Johnnie’s Throwback Thursday – Meeting the Scorpions

Even though I've never been a huge Scorpions fan, though I do enjoy their music, I've somehow seen them a bunch of times in concert, and managed to meet them a couple of times.

Here's the first time I met them...sometime in the early 90's.  They always put of a great show, and sound fantastic, and they have always been really nice people to meet.

Johnnie’s Throwback Thursday – 2000 Iron Maiden and Rob Halford

My throwback Thursday goes back to 2000, when I finally got to meet some of my metal heroes.  Iron Maiden was hitting the road with Queensryche and Rob Halford's solo band, and I took a week of so I could follow them around and hit 5 shows.

I caught the San Antonio, El Paso, Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Irvine shows that tour, and remember being super excited, since two of my favorite singers ever were touring together; Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson!

Throwback Thursday: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 Concert Tour ‘Coming Out of Our Shells’ And Guest Appearance on Oprah [Video]

Some are saying the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is terrible. However, is it worse than that one time the Ninja Turtles went on a rock concert tour, made an album sponsored by Pizza Hut, then went on Oprah to promote it? Because that was a real thing that happened. Back in August of 1990, the turtles hit the stage with "Coming Out of Their Shells".

Metalhead Ned’s Throwback Thursday – Welcome to Jurassic Park

1993, that glorious film by the name of Jurassic Park showed up in theaters. I remember begging my mother to bring me to the theater to see it, which in the end, I saw it about 5 times in theaters if I remember right. I had action figures, play sets, etc. I freakin' loved Jurassic Park.

19 years later after the film was released, I finally got to visit Jurassic Park.

Metalhead Ned’s Throwback Thursday – My EMU Dorm Room

Oh man, College was a blast! I miss it everyday! The friends I made, the freedom I had, etc. It was my first official time that I moved away from everything in my hometown. I went to Eastern Michigan University. Regardless of all the bad press this place receives, I loved every minute I was there and I got the true college experience out of it, meaning that I lived in the dorms.

Metalhead Ned’s Throwback Thursday – Huntress

Not going to far back for this one, but this was definitely one of my favorite interviews I ever did. Interviewing is kind of an art, making sure you ask the right questions, and attempting to make it more of a conversation then necessarily and interview where you already know the answer to the questions. Huntess was that and more!

Metalhead Ned’s Throwback Thursday – Copyright Infringement?

This photo isn't of me, but man does it make me laugh. It's of a friend of mine named John. John has a fantastic beard. Some time ago, he got pizza at some place with a photo of a knight looking guy eating a slice of pizza, whom also had a beard.

Where do you think this is going?

Metalhead Ned’s Throwback Thursday – Meeting Mushroomhead and Black Hair?

This year, I got the opportunity to host Carnival of Chaos. It was a blast! Quite some years back though, I only attended Carnival of Chaos. Just so happens that year, Mushroomhead was headlining one of the stages. This was also during the time that I blackened my hair, wore Tripp pants, etc.
