Winter Olympics: A Cab Driver’s View of Sochi

By Holly Demaree | BSU at the Games

Walking the streets of Adler after midnight during a light rain, it’s not easy to maneuver.

But taxi drivers are readily available in the Sochi, Russia, suburb. The drivers tend to park their cars in groups on the roadside, where they lean against vehicles to chat and smoke.

The price of a taxi ride is determined by one's haggling skills. If more than one car is needed, then a debate on prices ensues with two drivers.

Winter Olympics: Securing the Sochi Games [Video]

By Joe Ruley | BSU at the Games

Russia has created one of the world’s largest security forces for the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Doug Fry is in Sochi, Russia, to cheer on his daughter, Lyndsey Fry, a forward on the U.S. women's hockey team. The Chandler, Ariz., resident doesn't mind the security at Shayba Arena and elsewhere in Sochi given the potential threats.

“It makes me feel better, and I don’t think it’s intrusive at all considering this is a dangerous time to live in," he said. "It takes five minutes."

Sochi’s 9 Hours Ahead: It’s Already Time to Go Bar-Hopping at the Winter Olympics

By Ryan Howe | BSU at the Games

Traveling to Russia can have its share of ups and downs.

While one gets to experience new culture and surroundings, it also means leaving your favorite bar, club or hangout behind.

Finding one that suits your desires when overseas in places like Russia can be difficult and frustrating.

Drunk Driving In A Bulldozer Results In Ass Kicking [FBHW]

Drinking and driving is never a good idea, but it is especially dumb when you are in a 50 ton bulldozer.  This video appears to take place in Russia, where apparently this kinda stuff is not that uncommon.  The driver of the bulldozer weaves back and forth between cars parked on both sides of the road smashing and pushing them into other cars.  Towards the end of the clip, the driver stops the dozer and is assaulted by several people on the street.  The drunken idiot then hangs from the drivers seat while being punched in the head by several angry pedestrians... Oh street justice, why are you so fun to watch?

In Russia, Morning Commute Separates Men From Boys [Video]

Editor's Note: This post is meant to be read in a very thick Russian accent.

In Russia, girly-men take to roadways and play it safe like little baby. Real men get behind wheel and realize you have to be badass in order to make it to work at sadness factory every morning. Too many people drive with heart. When really you are supposed to drive with balls. Not literally, is very dangerous to steer with your scrotum. Either way this man stare at Death's face... and come out laughing like giggly school child.
