Check out this well-spoken message from GNR guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal on illegal downloading and supporting music. I think this is an important message that people really need to hear. Being a music freak, I want people to be able to create more music, and for them to be able to keep creating. Downloading their music is theft, and you shouldn't do it.

So many musicians are working independently, and putting out music on their own, so you're not supporting 'huge corporations' when you support them, and more and more money from each purchase can go to the artists, and not corporate suits.

If you like or love a musician's work, that means it has value to you. You should pay for something you value. Support the musicians. Buy their music, buy their shirts, buy everything you want, but don't take things just because you think you're entitled to have it.

By that reasoning, anyone else should have the right to come into your home and take your TV, clothes, game systems, CDs, heck, even your dog, if they feel entitled to it.

They work hard on the music. You work hard at your job. Do you want to work for free?

Neither do they.
