Southern metal band Mastodon will release their first live CD/DVD set entitled Live At The Aragon March 15.  The collection was recorded and filmed October 19, 2009, at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.

Live At The Aragon will feature Mastodon performing their most recent album, Crack The Skye, in its entirety, as well as some fan favorites from previous records.  Drummer Brann Dailor said in an interview that the Georgia natives were feeling huge pressure to put on a great performances for the crowd and the cameras.

"It was really nerve-wracking because you can't go back and fix anything if you screw up," laughs Dailor.  "There was a big sigh of relief when we finished that show.   I think it looks great. Fans can also watch the special film we had playing behind us during the set and trip out, dude!"

Dailor also revealed that Mastodon are currently writing music for a new album and will enter the studio in April.

"This album is definitely shaping up to be one of my favourites," says the drummer.  "It's been kind of surprising, because you have a preconceived notion of what you want to do and then you get in there and everything completely changes.  At the moment, it's sounding like a super-heavy Led Zeppelin!"

Led Zeppelin as a southern metal band?  Sounds interesting.
