April 5, 2013 Last time Mastodon graced us with their presence, they brought with them an arsenal of metal sharing the stage with Opeth. The show SOLD OUT! The 'metal' was powerful that night, and Mastodon tore up the stage. Apparently, they could not get enough of Grand Rapids, so they have decided to make the trip back. This time though, they are bringing MORE METAL with MACHINEHEAD!
Mastodon are coming off one of their more well-received albums with 'The Hunter' and they're in the mood to keep things rolling. Singer-guitarist Brent Hinds reveals that writing is currently underway on their follow-up and there's potential that they'll begin recording just after the start of 2013.
Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera has spoken in the past about an upcoming musical project with Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato and former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch, but a new member has been added to the yet-unnamed supergroup. That man just happens to be Troy Sanders, the bassist and co-vocalist of modern metal outfit Mastodon.

April 25, 2012 On of weekend of concert insanity, tons of concertgoers were either at the Avalanche Tour at the Orbit Room, or the massive metal show of Mastodon and Opeth at the Intersection. I, Ned The Metal Head, seized the opportunity to snag an interview with Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor. Am I wearing a mask? Well yea...if Mastodon wants you to wear a mask...you better damn well wear a mask.
April 2, 2012 Mastodon are gearing up to hit the road with fellow metal heavyweights Opeth starting this week. The tour will hammer its way to The Intersection in downtown Grand Rapids on April 14. January 31, 2012 Metal fans are about to cream their pants: Mastodon and Opeth are joining forces for a huge tour this spring. The two bands will alternate closing shows and will stop by The Intersection in downtown Grand Rapids on April 14 with Mastodon playing last.

The latest downloadable content for Resistance 3 was released this week. The "Brutality Pack" features a new survival mode that can be played solo or co-op, a new character skin and the hammer weapon to knock Chimeras the f*#k out in the Playstation 3 hit. The coolest addition is that all the music is from southern metal heads Mastodon. GRD and Warner Bros. Records is letting one lucky fan play along side a member of Mastodon in Resistance 3!
November 30, 2011 Record Store Day has been known to be a time when unlikely collaborations are formed for rare releases. Hell, music in general has produced oddball pairings (Metallica and Lou Reed's Lulu, anyone?). One partnership that has me very intrigued is that of southern metal rockers Mastodon and Canadian singer/songwriter Feist.
