In May of 1985, a 40-year-old mother disappeared from her home in Indiana. Three years later her body was discovered in southern Michigan.

Ada Haradine Murder Case

Ada Haradine, a stay-at-home-mom of two boys, lived in Elkhart, Indiana. Her husband Ed Haradine was the president of the furniture company Carlton Manufacturing Inc.

May 8, 1985, Ada was last seen in her backyard.

Just a short time later, one of her sons arrived home on the school bus - and Ada was gone. She'd left all her belongings behind and nothing in the home seemed out of place. Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office Investigator, Dave Gizzi, tells WBST-22,

The only thing strange at the home, was that there was nothing strange.

Police investigated and conducted interviews. Tips came in. Still, the case remained unsolved. Three years later, Ada's remains were found by mushroom hunters in rural Cass County, Mich. Just north of Union, the location was about 20 minutes from her home, the South Bend Tribune reports.

Ada was identified by her wedding ring and dental records. Authorities determined her cause of death was a massive skull fracture caused by a blow to the head. It was ruled a homicide.

40 years later, Ada's killer still has not been found.

"The Deck" podcast is digging into the 40-year-old cold case of Ada Haradine.

It's a true crime series that aims to draw new attention to cold cases in the hopes of solving them and providing justice to the victims and their loved ones. The podcast is hosted by Ashley Flowers, who also hosts "Crime Junkie."

Not only police in Elkhart and Cass County have been investigating, but residents as well. According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, the Bristol Public Library recently hosted a Cold Case Investigation group in which residents followed along with The Deck podcast, reviewed evidence, and engaged in discussions.
