Cold Case Twist: Ted Bundy DNA Identifies New Victim
Serial killer Ted Bundy confessed to 30 murders across seven states between 1974 and 1978, and DNA evidence has now linked him to an additional victim.
Serial Killer Ted Bundy
The trial of convicted serial killer Ted Bundy was the first in U.S. history to be televised, giving viewers at home a firsthand look at one of the most infamous murderers. Bundy even represented himself during parts of his 1977 trial.
Although Ted Bundy confessed to 30 homicides, the actual number of his victims remains unknown and is believed to be much higher, possibly as many as 100. Despite this, he was convicted of only three first-degree murders in Florida.

Even though Ted Bundy was executed in the electric chair on January 24, 1989, investigations continue to link him to additional victims.
Investigators Link Ted Bundy to New Victim via DNA
According to WZZM-13, new DNA testing has conclusively linked Ted Bundy to the 1974 murder of 17‑year‑old Laura Ann Auime in Utah. Aime disappeared after leaving a Halloween party, and nearly a month later her body was discovered along a highway in American Fork Canyon. Investigators long suspected Bundy, and DNA now definitively confirms his involvement..
Aime’s case was part of a cold case after being found strangled in a manner similar to other Bundy killings. Bundy did acknowledge his involvement in Aime's death, among others prior to his execution.
Aime's cold case was brought back to life in 2025, and collected evidence was sent to a forensic laboratory for testing. The DNA evidence found Bundy's DNA was a match.
