I’m old enough to have seen how parenting and discipline have changed over generations. My grandparents had their way of disciplining children, my parents had theirs, and now I have my own way of disciplining my son when he does something wrong that warrants punishment.
Experts say effective discipline involves setting clear boundaries, praising good behavior, and using consistent, logical consequences to teach responsibility rather than simply punish. Common approaches include positive reinforcement, redirection, time-outs, and taking away privileges. The purpose is not to break a child’s spirit, but to help them develop an understanding of right and wrong.
