Grand Rapids is about to get something that feels like it was designed for people who fall asleep to true crime shows and call it "relaxing."

One of my favorite ways to spend a summer afternoon is sitting in a lawn chair, soaking up sun, and listening to a podcast about a serial killer. I know. That might sound concerning. My algorithm is basically a cry for help at this point.

The venue is a pretty great fit too! The historic Sweet House at 254 Fulton St. E. in Grand Rapids, is a stunning 1860s mansion that was officially designated a Michigan historic landmark in 2025.

If you're going to spend an evening listening to terrifying tales, an elegant historic home seems like the appropriate place to do it.

What to Expect Inside the Serial Killer Speakeasy

Serial Killer Speakeasy takes four of America’s most infamous serial killers and turns their stories into a live show with themed cocktails. The cases focus on Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Ed Gein, with each segment told from the killers’ perspectives in a chilling, immersive format.

And get a load of these drink names: “The Friendly Stranger” (Bundy), “Apartment Two One Three” (Dahmer), “Killer Clowns” (John Wayne Gacy), and “Gein’s Cauldron” (Ed Gein).
