Want a beer with your Taco Bell? Sorry, not in Michigan.

Taco Bell has been introducing a new type of their restaurant across the country. It's called Taco Bell Cantina. Taco Bell Cantina's feature an expanded menu which usually features alcohol including margaritas, sangria and Twisted Freezes which are frozen drinks with tequila, rum, or vodka. The Michigan location also planned to serve beer.

Food and Wine says there are plans to open 300 to 350 Taco Bell Cantinas by 2022. Right now, the closest locations are in Chicago (the first to open in 2015), Cleveland, Cincinnati, Madison Wis. and Royal Oak, Mich; but the Michigan location just had its application for a liquor license denied.

Crain's Detroit Business says Royal Oak City Commissioners voted 5-2 on Monday night to deny the liquor license request for the restaurant which opened in January. They cited the police department's opposition due to the restaurant's young clientele and the number of downtown locations already selling alcohol.
