Free Cat and Dog Adoption at Kent County Animal Shelter This Weekend
Been looking to bring a furry family member into your home? Now is the time!
The Kent County Animal Shelter is offering free adoption for cats and dogs this weekend.
The Bissell Pet Foundation is Hosting the Empty The Shelters event 1 to 7 p.m. on Friday Nov. 22 and and 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday.Nov. 23.
According to WZZM-13, the shelter took in 678 cats and dogs during the month of October alone. KCAS has also been working to reduce it's euthanasia rate, which means there are more animals in the shelter that need loving homes.
Namiko Nota-Novesky, Public Health Program Supervisor at KCAS says,
“This is an excellent opportunity for people to adopt.We are thankful to the Bissell Pet Foundation for providing the financial support that makes this all possible. Imagine how thankful your new pet will be to have a permanent home this holiday season.”
Those seeking to adopt are encourage to pre-register. Registration forms can be found by clicking here for dogs or here for cats
Potential adopters will need to provide proof that any other animals in their home are licensed and up to date on vaccines, and also bring contact info for their current pets vet.
Renters wishing to adopt dogs will need to provide proof from their landlord that dogs are allowed in their homes.
The dog licensing fee is $17.
