Controversial Kurt Cobain Statue Goes Up in Nirvana Frontman’s Home Town of Aberdeen

Kurt Cobain would have turned 47 a few days ago, and on April 5th it will be twenty years since his suicide.  Nirvana gets inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10th.  Big year for Nirvana fans, including those in his hometown of Aberdeen, since they got a statue of Kurt that looks like Jesus playing a guitar, and a mural is being worked on, too!

Not all in Aberdeen are exactly enthusiastic about the celebration of his life and music.  Many people in his hometown remember how much he hated it there, and his vandalism arrests, heroin addiction, suicide.  Freaking downers, man.

The Mayor doesn't care.  He wants to celebrate what his music did for people, and in my book, that's never a bad thing.
