It has been a fantastic time to be a football fan in Michigan. The Wolverines won the College Football Championship for the first time since 1997, the Detroit Lions have won their first playoff game in over 30 years. But there is one football game involving a Michigan team that hasn't gotten as much coverage but had one astounding moment.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles played the South Alabama Jaguars in the 68 Ventures Bowl on December 23rd. The Jaguars scored their most points against an FBS program with a 59-10 rout to win their first Bowl game in school history.

After the game, the Jags were celebrating their win by singing their school fight song when one player from Eastern Michigan took his frustration out on one of the South Alabama players. Defensive back Korey Hernandez approached South Alabama defensive back Jamarrien Burt and hit him in the back of the head before both teams began tussling on the field.

Due to the violent nature of the video, the sound has been removed, but another angle with sound can be seen here. Since the video went public, Hernandez and Eastern Michigan's athletic director Scott Wetherbee have both issued apologies, with Wetherbee stating:

"Their conduct does not reflect the great pride and high standards we place on the game and our program, and the expectations for good sportsmanship and exemplary conduct of student-athletes on and off the field.”

Burt and Southern Alabama have since accepted the apologies of both Hernandez and Eastern Michigan, with Southern Alabama hoping the way the game ended is not what is remembered from their win.
