This next Michigan Horror Movie for Halloween is a tricky one, in a few ways. First off, it has different names, either "The Chaos Experiment", or "The Steam Experiment". Second, you can't stream the damn thing to be able to watch it. If you have Netflix DVD delivery, you can get it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this entry in my series on Michigan Horror Movies for Halloween. Not that Cyrus had a huge budget, or was an amazing film, but that the cast has some real actors in in, and that it's not the worst story ever. I was surprised to see the amazing Lance Henriksen, but then again he's been in just about every movie in the last 40 years.

Last night, I watched (or I should say, rewatched) a movie for Michigan Horror Movies for Halloween that was shot right here in Grand Rapids! It's called Playback, and featured (but not stars) Christian Slater as a cop/perv, in this decent but not amazing horror movie.

Last night, I watched what had popped up on my Google search on scary movies related to Michigan. I probably should have looked closer into this one, even though it has "Monsters" in the title. I thought, "Great! A monster movie!" Nope...totally a crap movie that just happened to have monsters in the background.

For today's installment of Michigan Horror Movies for Halloween, I watched Jingles the Clown last night. It was made in Ypsilanti, MI, and set in "Michigan", and they weren't very specific, making it "the middle of nowhere". Is anyone going to be mad to not get location credit in this movie? No.

Thursday night, we were lucky enough to get in to see Rob Zombie's new movie "31" at the special sneak preview hosted by Fathom Events. The movie isn't due to be released on VOD until later this month, and will be in theaters in October. We're not going to spoil the movie for you, but share some of our thoughts on what we saw. There's always that moment in a horror movie that really pisses you off. They go into the obviously scary basement and read the book that says 'DO NOT READ' on it, they split up while lost somewhere, they stay in the slasher cabin in the middle of nowhere...you know the drill. And you get screaming angry every single time. What would happen if the characters in the horror movies made good choices?

You know by now how much I love scary movies. The scarier and weirder it is, the more I'm likely to enjoy it. 'The Exorcist'? Fav. 'The Sentinel'? Fav. 'Hellraiser'? Fav. This movie 'The Witch' looks like it could add itself to the list, with its creepy look, and evil.
