Alter Bridge Releases Cool Animated Video for ‘Cry of Achilles’ [Video]

Alter Bridge, in case you've been in a cave for the last decade, is the band that Mark Tremonti formed after Creed dissolved, to put out music that's a bit heavier than Creed, but still melodic.

He snatched up one of the best singers around right now, Myles Kennedy, and they've not looked back!

The new album, Fortress, came out last year, and it's freaking amazing!  If you don't have it, pick this album up and play it in your car REALLY LOUD. Or in your home. Either way, it's great.

Trivium’s New Video for ‘Through Blood and Dirt and Bone’ Rocks [Video]

Trivium's newest album "Vengeance Falls" came out last October. If you haven't heard it, it's pretty freaking awesome.

The band just released the video for the song, "Through Blood and Dirt and Bone" is filled with tons of live footage from the road, with some off-stage and behind-the-scenes footage mixed in.

Babymetal Rocks Sonisphere — Even Bringing a Wall of Death!

So, the Japanese are crazy.  Not in the kill-everyone-while-in-your-underwear kind of way, but in a "wtf is going on over there" kind of way.

The big export right now is a band called Babymetal, which is their fusion of extreme metal brutality and cuteness.  Why?  Because that's what pops into their minds.  I'm telling you, there's something in the water or something over there.

Wayland Premiered Their New Song “Get a Little” on WGRD – Listen Now

I had the privilege of getting to premiere the new Wayland song, "Get a Little" today during my show, and got to do it with Phil and Mitch from Wayland!

It's always a good time talking with those guys, they're fun, and really passionate about what they do, and honest about how they feel.  They talked a little about the origins of the song, how it was born from the crappy jobs they've all worked while getting the band going.

Three Days Grace Thanks You for Taking ‘Painkiller’ to No. 1 [Video]

The guys in Three Days Grace have had great success with their latest song, "Painkiller", and they wanted to take a moment in the studio to thank everyone who helped make this song their 12th number one song!  That's a very cool thing for them to do.

Thanks to everyone who bought the song, loves the band, and goes to the shows!

Lzzy Hale and Eric Church Rock the CMT Awards [Video]

The other night, Lzzy Hale from Halestorm hit the stage with Eric Church at the CMTs for a loud version of "That's Damn Rock N Roll".  It's also come out that she's doing some shows with Eric Church on his tour this summer.

Country music has swerved more and more toward the rock side of things over the last few decades, and some country stars put on bigger rock shows than some rock bands!  This ain't your daddy's country music anymore.  Hell, your parents probably can't even tell the difference anymore!

Gojira ‘Explosia’ Live at Rock on the Range 2014 [Video]

Let me start this by saying, "I freaking LOVE Gojira"!  I've been so excited to see this band, I would have paid for tickets to Rock on the Range JUST to see them!

It would have been a weird thing to do, admittedly, buying tickets to a huge show for only one band, and I still would have checked out as many as I did ... but you get what I'm saying.

This French band has been building their followers over the last few years, and among them, tons of well-known musicians.  This band takes the rhythmic and percussive things that a lot of bands are doing in different directions.  They use odd time signatures, weird sounds, cool tapping riffs, and odd song structures to blow people away.

Mastodon “Black Tongue” Live at Rock on the Range 2014 [Video]

So many bands at Rock on the Range 2014, so little time!  This was the first year they expanded the event to three days, and there were 60 or so bands over the weekend!  I ran around checking out all the bands I had to see, and I still only managed to see maybe 40 of the 60.  I promise I'll try hard next year.

One band I wanted to see, and did, was Mastodon!  I've been listening to Mastodon since I first got the Remission album when it came out, and watched the bonus DVD on there.  Wicked stuff!

Killswitch Engage “Always” Live at Rock on the Range 2014 [Video]

There were so many bands to see at Rock on the Range 2014, it's taken me a few weeks to get through all of the videos I recorded at the shows...and all bands are so good, it's still fun to watch them!  Check out Killswitch Engage from the first day of ROTR, kicking ass with the return of original singer Jesse Leach!

The song is "Always", from their newest album, Disarm the Descent, the first with Jesse back in the band, and the song is really good, of course, and rocks live!
