Police are investigating an early morning shooting on the Fourth of July downtown Grand Rapids.

WZZM-13 reports that shots were fired shortly before 2a.m. outside the Pyramid Scheme near the corner of Commerce Avenue and Oakes Street following some sort of altercation.

One Injured in Second Shooting on Leonard Street on Thursday [Video]

On Thursday there were two shooting incidents on Leonard Street in Grand Rapids within a matter of hours. The first was a drive-by, injuring a 17-year-old and four-year-old.

The second occurred around 10:20 p.m. close to the Shell Station at the corner of Alpine Avenue and Leonard Street.

Police in Standoff with Barricaded Gunman Near South Haven

 

UPDATE: Gunfire was exchanged between the suspect, Jason Kohlhoff, and police during the standoff. No one was injured. The standoff ended around 2a.m. Wednesday moring when Kolhoff surrendered. He is now facing attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting at Michigan State Police during the nearly 15-hour standoff, Wood TV 8 reports.

UPDATE: Police say the 26-year-old man who shot himself outside of Spectrum Butterworth Hospital has died. The man left a suicide note indicating he had a "parting gift" for police. Police are investigating  a suspicious package near the scene.
