I was pretty excited for the awesomeness that is Rock on the Range this year. Honestly, there wasn't a ton of bands I was excited for the first day, except for one. Down was slated to perform this year and I love this band. The on-stage mannerisms of Phil Anselmo are just as entertaining as they were back then. This year though, Down brought on quite the show with 2 VERY special guests!

Not only did Down deliver just an amazing set of old and new, but they did it with a sick amount of enthusiasm. The band is extremely solid and they all look like they are just having a blast on stage. Earlier in the day, Rex Brown (Former Pantera bassist) performed with his band Kill Devil Hill. I wondered if Rex would join Down on-stage, and just like I predicted, he sure did!

They played my favorite and crowd favorite 'Stone the Crow.'

Seeing Rex and Phil on-stage together is the closest I will EVER get to any kind of Pantera reunion, and that's OK with me.

After they played that one, they finished off their full set with 'Bury me in smoke.' Which to many people's amazement, they were joined by Living Colour! (Which performed previous to Down). Seeing all those band members up there just jamming and having fun was a trip to watch and have so far delivered my favorite performance of Rock on the Range so far! It was just cool to see a performance that wasn't 100% planned out, and was just a bunch of awesome dudes just jamming it out.

Watch below the video of 'Stone the Crow' featuring Rex Brown on bass!
