According to the Michigan State Police, nearly a half a dozen officers fired at 47-year-old Kenneth Townley in Blackman Township Michigan. Townley died later at a hospital.

According to the Jackson Cititzen Patriot, Townley robbed an area Dollar General store and was also suspected in a purse theft on Sunday.

WILX-TV reports that the shooting involved two officers from the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety, two from the Jackson Police Department and one from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Area homes were hit by gunfire but no one else was hurt. This is still an ongoing investigation.
