Whether Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo giving a Nazi salute and yelling "white power" to the crowd at Dimebash was meant as a "joke" or not, Dutch metal festival FortaRock has decided to cut Down (one of Anselmo's other bands) from the festival lineup.

Although Anselmo did issue an apology, FortaRock is not convinced. In an official statement, the festival said,

After the recent outbursts by singer Phil Anselmo during the Dimebash event in the US, his band Down is no longer welcome at FortaRock. Anselmo ended the show in the US with a Nazi salute and shouted 'White power'. There has been close consultation between all parties recent days, since we wanted to make a well informed decision. On that basis, the decision is made to cancel the act. We want to make clear that there is no room for racism or fascism on FortaRock.

Anselmo has also been called a racist by Machine Head's Robb Flynn and Anthrax's Scott Ian. Whether more festivals will drop Anselmo's bands from their lineups is yet unknown.
