Linkin Park, Mastodon and Green Day Reveal Record Store Day Releases
Vinyl lovers, start saving your money and circle April 19 on your calendar because that’s when the next Record Store Day is taking place. As usual, a number of top acts are preparing special releases for the event.
Linkin Park will take fans back to 2004 as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of their ‘Collision Course’ mash-up album with Jay-Z. The special edition Record Store Day release will feature the collection on blue vinyl and includes a once-in-a-lifetime DVD of the special show that featured the two acts.
As for Mastodon, the band is making their ‘Live at Brixton’ digital-only release that arrived last year available on a 2-LP 180-gram vinyl with a DVD. This run is limited to only 2,000 units. The source material is the band’s unreal first-ever performance at the London O2 Academy in Brixton back in 2012. This will be the only physical release of this concert collection.
Green Day, meanwhile, have dug into their collection of demos and will give fans the ‘Demolicious’ vinyl collection. The double-vinyl offering includes 18 unreleased demo recordings from the ‘Uno,’ ‘Dos’ and Tre’ sessions, as well as the previously unreleased track ‘State of Shock’ and an acoustic version of ‘Stay the Night.’ It will be available in both red and clear vinyl, as well as on CD and cassette.
The now defunct My Chemical Romance are giving fans a chance to revisit the past, as they’re making a special ‘New Jersey’ t-shirt from 2001 available. T-shirt lovers will also be able to purchase Warner Bros.-made ‘Vinyl is Forever’ and ‘Vinyl Love’ t-shirts during Record Store Day at participating stores.
