Here are some good reasons to call 911:

1.You're being killed

2.You're being robbed

3.You are watching someone else being killed or robbed.

Not a good reason? Facebook is down.

There are so many stories about people calling 911 for asinine reasons, I'm surprised we're surprised by anything anymore.

According to CBS San Francisco, at least 5 people in California's Bay Area called 911 to report that Facebook and Instagram were down during the temporary outage early Tuesday morning.

It got to the point that 911 dispatchers actually had to request that people stopped calling to complain and ask when the sites would be back up again.

A dispatcher who wished to remain anonymous said:

"We have nothing to do with Facebook and when Facebook isn’t working, it’s not an emergency. Our lines our dedicated to handle life and death calls, and even though Facebook is important to a lot of people, it’s not a matter of life and death when it stops working. One caller even called back to tell me I was being rude because I told her it wasn’t a life threatening emergency."

Wow.

In case you hadn't heard, Facebook and Instagram were down for a MIND BLOWING total of about 40 minutes on Tuesday morning.

Apparently it was an internal problem. According to the Associated Press, Facebook said in a statement:

"This was not the result of a third party attack but instead occurred after we introduced a change that affected our configuration systems."

Other things it wasn't? A damn emergency warranting 911 calls.
