It seems like every band has a lead singer that wants to go beyond their band that made them successful and try out a solo stint. Examples of this are System of a Down, Slipknot, and now Mushroomhead. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't. Does Jeffrey Nothing's album, 'The New Psychodalia' work?

First of all, it is not a bad album. It's actually pretty damn good, but very different from what we have expected of the Mushroomhead frontman. I keep expecting Waylon (singer #2 of Mushroomhead) to blast in with some heavy vocals.

"Sin O' Cism" just bleeds Mushroomhead, but songs like 'Mnemerator' and 'Deathbed Masquerade,' make me feel like I am walking through a dark and freshly rained on woods and I hear every step my feet make on the leaves. I know that sounds totally screwed up, but that's what it seriously sounds like, it's kinda that creepy and bad ass at the same time.

It's a small departure from his main group, but you can't help but associate Jeffrey Nothing with Mushroomhead so much, that it kind of tampers with the new sound. If you are expecting massive growling vocals, crazy shredding, and blast beats, you best turn around. But if you are a hardcore undergrounder looking for something different, then this might work for you.

All in all, cool album, check it out!
