Disturbed’s David Draiman Describes His ‘Heavy Metal’ Diet

Sex, Drugs, and Rock n’ Roll right? Well if you a have a major problem of severe acid reflux, you may have to miss out on some of those things. Being on the road may be glamorous, but I am sure it is not the ‘healthiest’ of activities either. In order to keep those metal vocals running,  Disturbed’s David Draiman actually has quite the schedule when it comes to his eating habits.

In an interview with ‘Heavy Metal Food Blog,’ (yea, I was surprised that it actually exist too). Draiman is no extreme carnivore where he is eating the heads of bats and drinking the blood of goats when off the road like most of us metal heads do (Wait…I am the only one that does that?). He actually keeps a good steady diet. It most likely is for the best after being on the road for so long. You can’t just keep doing extremely active shows and eat burgers all the time. You would be worn out in a matter of seconds.

“I have a strict diet to begin with since I have severe acid reflux. I don’t drink anything on the road. I don’t smoke anything on the road. I have to make sure I don’t eat four hours prior to the set. I don’t eat two hours prior to going to bed so there isn’t food in the stomach. From a caloric standpoint, it’s not good to have food sitting in your stomach overnight since it doesn’t get burnt. I stay away from fatty stuff, fried foods. I try to stay away from things that are too oily, that aggravate the acid reflux or put the pounds on.” So much for sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, huh?

Think about what you eat on a daily basis……That’s right, if you eat right…you could be as metal and awesome as David Draiman.
