The Detroit Lions and wide receiver Ryan Broyles are parting ways before the season even gets underway.

After more than years with the Lions, Broyles became part of the first round of cuts on Monday that will bring the teams roster down to the league-standard 75 players.

Broyles took to Twitter Monday to thank his team, his coaches, and the people of Detroit.

In his three seasons with the organization, Broyles played only 21 games due to several different injuries.

Broyles was the NCAA all-time leader in receptions when he joined the team in 2012, but he was also injured at the time after suffering a torn ACL during his senior season.

Broyles had 32 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns during his time with the Lions.

The cuts aren't finished yet, the team must whittle down their roster from 88 players to 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
