Okay, I never met my grandfathers, but I'd like to think they were cool as s***, like this guy. Not only was he a Navy pilot, he was also program manager for the instrument made to repair the Hubble Space Telescope! And now, he's also a karaoke singer who loves to sing Drowning Pool's "Bodies"! I want him for my grandpa!

There have been a lot of Metallica covers over the years, from big name bands to unknowns, to cello covers, to lullaby versions for babies. Now there are some creative people out there creating new versions like this one. A medieval instrument version of "One" from ...And Justice For All.

About 14 years ago, Vinnie and Darrell recorded Phil Collins' "I Don't Care Anymore" while working on the Damageplan album, but never used it. On the new album from Hellyeah, the band decided to cover the song and make it theirs, and use Dime's guitar parts to make it special and honor his memory. This is the result.

Tuesday night, Rob Zombie, Disturbed, and Pop Evil hit the Van Andel Arena and made a lot of noise, and did what they could to tear the place apart. Great show, featuring lots of anime, movie clips, monsters, and aliens from Zombie and his gang. A little too much alien penis for my liking, but I'm sure someone was stoked to see them.

Tuesday night, Disturbed, Rob Zombie, and Pop Evil rolled into Grand Rapids at the Van Andel Arena, and proceeded to tear the freaking roof off the building! Rob Zombie had everyone screaming and singing along, and then Disturbed came along and set fire to everything that was left.

Friday night, May 20th, Ghost hit the Orbit Room for a packed show in Grand Rapids! The band Pinkish Black opened the evening, on the last day of this leg of the "Black to the Future" Tour. Check out video of Ghost, and the introduction of the GRD Sisters of Sin contest winners!

Friday afternoon, before Ghost hit the stage at the Orbit Room, the band came by the GRD studios to perform some songs for winners acoustically. This was a cool performance, and even made some fans of people from our sister stations, Ghost was that good.

Asking Alexandria hit the Intersection on Wednesday night, while on tour with Bullet for My Valentine, and totally rocked a packed house. Cane Hill kicked off the night, and then about 8:15, Asking Alexandria hit the stage with "I Won't Give In". They then rocked a short-ish set before Bullet for My Valentine.

I'm a huge fan of metal and shred guitar playing. It's some of my favorite stuff to listen to, and it's always great to see a band that can really shred live. Hellyeah hit the Intersection Tuesday night on the "We're All In This Together" tour, along with Escape the Fate, New Year's Day, and From Ashes to New. All the bands got the crowd moving and having a great time, making a ton of noise!
