Things have not been going well lately for Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin. From divorcing his wife to owing back taxes, the man has been through some setbacks. The latest one may land Scantlin in prison as the singer is charged with cocaine possession.

Celebrity gossip staple TMZ reports that the 39-year old musician has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, as well as being under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a license. The first charge is a felony while the latter two are misdemeanors. He faces up to four and a half years in prison if he's found guilty of all charges.

Scantlin was pulled over for an unknown traffic offense on January 12 in Culver City, CA. Police found illegal controlled substances which at the time were described as powder and pills. The pills were not brought up in any of the charges against Scantlin, who has pleaded not guilty to all counts against him. He is due in court later this week.

This is obviously disappointing to hear. Puddle of Mudd were working on their comeback after releasing a covers album called re(disc)overed last August. Scantlin revealed details on what the band had planned for the future when they played at the Intersection in December, which you can watch here.
