Free Pet Adoption Day Is Coming to the Humane Society of West Michigan

As a lifelong cat person, I can tell you that having a pet makes everything infinitely better. We hear all the time about the health benefits of pet ownership, like lower stress, reduced loneliness, improved mood, and even better cardiovascular health, and those are all fantastic perks.

But also? They are just plain fun to have around!

My kitties keep me laughing every single day. Just the other day, my floofy calico girl decided my Apple Watch was the most fascinating thing on the planet. She sniffed it, licked the screen a couple of times, and then tried to trot off with it like it was a prized hunting trophy! Add in the lap snuggles and the instant relaxation of a warm, purring cat at the end of a long day, and there is really nothing better.

Free Adoption Day Details & Location

The Humane Society of West Michigan is hosting a Free Adoption Day on Saturday, August 29th. Adoption fees are completely waived for all animals six months and older.

This special event is part of The Rescue Effect, a nationwide ASPCA campaign designed to help place animals in loving homes quickly, which frees up critical space so shelters can care for even more pets in need.

The Humane Society of West Michigan at 3077 Wilson Drive NW is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday. No appointment is needed, however, the shelter will likely be busier than normal on Free Adoption Day, so it's a good idea to get there early. You can see adoptable pets in advance here.
