This season, Meyers Acres is becoming "home of the $1 blueberry pint" to combat high grocery prices. I just bought some blueberries at the store and paid more than $5 for a pint, so this really is an awesome deal!

Owner Kara Meyers shared to the Bangor, Michigan Facebook page:

Grocery prices aren't fun these days. So, to help our community, we have decided to turn our farm into the home of the $1 blueberry pint.
You read that right! We will be selling our blueberries this year for between 300% to 500% less than what they are being sold for in the average grocery store.

If you're wondering how Meyers Acres is able to do this, Kara explains that they have also have a dog training and grooming business, The Village Groomer, that allows the family "to give back in a unique way." In addition, selling their pies and other cottage law items, along with eggs and flowers helps pay for the farm's upkeep.

She continues,

Yes, by selling the blueberries for $1.00, we are selling them below cost. But, that's okay to us, because in doing so, we are able to share our passions with our community, help local pets, and also help to feed our neighbors. At the end of the year, if we made enough to pay for next years seeds and upkeep of the farm, then we will keep doing it forever!

It sounds like the farm is a relatively new venture for the Myers as Kara shares in the comments to the post that the family purchased it last year.

Blueberry season typically runs mid-July to mid-September. The $1 blueberry pints will be available at Meyers Acres daily starting from first harvest until they are out of stock. The limit is 10 pints per customer per visit.
