In April of 2022, Ken's Fruit Market at 3500 Plainfield Ave. celebrated its 10th birthday. In a Facebook post thanking their customers, Ken's owners hinted they were "looking forward to continuing our growth" - and we now know what's to come!

Ken's Fruit Market opened its first Grand Rapids store in Alger Heights in August of 2012. Owners say,

We opened with fewer than 20 employees and a families’ little dream. With the success of our first store, and people begging for more small, local, sincere businesses in the area, we decided to open our second location at 3500 Plainfield Ave NE in April of 2012.

Ken's now has over 75 employees at the two locations, and has recently acquired another store in Ionia, named Ken’s Farm Market.

On Monday, Ken Fruit Market announced that the store on Plainfield is expanding. Renovations include a retail space of 8,000 square feet (once an adjacent thrift store) and a greenhouse in the garden center, spanning 12,000 square feet.
