New Restaurant Opens at West Michigan Apple Orchard

There's a new dining destination in West Michigan!

An apple orchard in Greenville has expanded with a restaurant serving up cider and "new American flavors." I gotta say, the menu looks delicious!

Back in 2018 we told you that after 40+ years the owners of Klackle Orchards were retiring and the property had been put for auction. The land was split up and a portion of it was purchased by Greenville natives, April and Michael Peterson, who kept the orchard going under a new name: Frugthaven Farm.

April told Fox 17 at the time,

This is a part of Greenville and it's something that the whole town is passionate about and we just did not want to see it get lost in the shuffle of the Klackles retiring.

Frugthaven grew to not only be a working apple orchard, but also a cidery, coffee shop, barber shop, market, event space - and now, a restaurant!

In looking into the new restaurant, I did uncover something really sad. April Peterson passed away unexpectedly in 2023. From posts to Facebook, it sounds April would have really loved her husband Michael moving forward to open the new restaurant at the farm.

Applewood Kitchen and Bar officially opened at Frugthaven Farm at the end of February.

Mike Peterson partnered with Jim Wood on the business, who is also the executive Chef at Applewood Kitchen and Bar. Wood owns and is the Chef at Wood Shop Social in Mt. Pleasant as well, plus the on-camera Chef for Michigan Out of Doors TV.

I'm a huge fan of appetizers, and all of Applewood's look delicious! There's Fried Brussel Sprouts, Roasted Carrots, Duck Confit Street Tacos, Pimento Dip, and more. There's soups, salads, burgers, and sandwiches as well.
