Grand Rapids Downtown Market Up For Best Food Hall In U.S.
Food Halls are a great way to experience a city's diverse culinary scene and Grand Rapids has a stellar one!
Grand Rapids Downtown Market is one of my favorite places in the city. Whenever I have friends or family in town, it's a must-visit! There are so many great eateries to try. It's getting national attention as one of the best food halls in the country, competing against 19 others for the top spot.

The market first opened at 435 Ionia Ave SW in 2013 with the mission of bringing together local food production, education, and business opportunities.

With vintage markets, kids events, the Ice Bar, food pop-ups, themed weekends, and the Christkindl Markt, there's always something fun going on! Plus, there's the incubator kitchen, a fully-equipped commercial kitchen chefs and bakers can rent.
It's now grown to 19 indoor food merchants and restaurants, including butchers, bakers, fishmongers, and more.
Some of the restaurants and food stands are:
- Apertivo - Cheese and charcuterie, beer and wine, sandwiches
- Cafe de Miro - Kurdish style Mediterranean restaurant
- Carvers - butchery with dry aged beef, burgers, deli sides, and more
- Curry Leaf - Indian cuisine
- Field and Fire Bakery - Artisan wood fired bread, pastries, croissants, pizza
- Fish Lads - Fresh fish and seafood
- Gaby's Gourmandise - bakery with French pastries, crepes, cream puffs, cookies
- Juju Bird - Fried chicken, sandwiches, wings
- Love's Ice Cream - Ice cream, vegan gelato, confections, ice cream cocktails
- Rak - Thai cuisine
- Tacos El Cunado - Authentic Mexican street food
The newest addition is Rudy's Sub Shop, serving made-to-order signature and build-your-own subs.
