New Grand Rapids-Area Splash Pad Opens This Weekend
Just in time, before summer slips away!
New Splash Pad Opening at Gezon Park in Wyoming
The newest splash pad in the Grand Rapids area is opening this weekend at Gezon Park at 1940 52nd St.
Last fall we told you abut the $6 million in upgrades coming to Gezon Park in Wyoming- well, phase one is now complete!
Wyoming Mayor, Jack Poll said in a release,
We’re excited to bring the ideas of residents to reality. The redevelopment of Gezon Park has been highly anticipated by our community.
The Gezon Splash Pad will open to the public Saturday, August 27 at 10a.m.
Guests can enjoy free ice cream and a free commemorative item (while supplies last), and the opportunity to play on the newly constructed splash pad.
According to the City of Wyoming, splash pads are open through Labor Day. City of Grand Rapids splash pads are open through September 11, 2022.
Upgrades to Wyoming, Mich., Parks
In addition to the large-scale splash pad, other improvements to Gezon Park include expanded parking, restrooms, a new shelter, and walking and biking paths that will provide expanded pedestrian and bike connection to the Metro Health Village and the M-6 bike trail.
According to WKTV, a later phase of redevelopment at the north end of Gezon Park will include a play area, restroom, pickle ball, and basketball courts.
Funding for the Gezon Park redevelopment project comes from Wyoming's dedicated Library and Parks Maintenance millage and the dedicated Parks and Recreation Operational millage.
Earlier this summer, the Wyoming Parks and Recreation Department shared that new playground equipment was installed at Lamar Park, along with the local park system's first ever "parent/guardian and child together swing".
